FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SHIPPING

  • We ship on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Orders must be placed before 2:00pm Monday thru Friday.
  • Deliveries are scheduled for Wednesday through Friday. Sorry, no Monday or Tuesday delivery. Please allow at least 5 business days from order to delivery of the package. All Fax and Online orders are confirmed via Phone by our customer service representatives.
  • All Illinois residents will be charged 7.75% sales tax, and California residents add 5% extra handling.

Adverse Weather ConditionsHEAT WAVE: (90 Degrees or higher for a week or longer)Due to the hazardous weather conditions and the perishable nature of our productsThe Best of Chicago does not want to compromise the temperature of the package due to heat. In this event, we offer two options, first we can ship the product priority overnight for an additional $15.00 and would ask that you send it to an office or home where someone will receive the package right away so that it is not left in the heat, or second we can place the order on hold until the weather breaks.SNOW STORM: (Hazardous Driving Conditions due to Snow)Due to the hazardous weather conditions and the perishable nature of our productsThe Best of Chicago does not want to compromise the contents of your order. In bad driving conditions it is likely that TNT or DHLcannot make deliveries or get through to certain areas. In this event we ask that the order be placed on hold until the weather breaks.

SHIPPING INFORMATION:

Will I get a confirmation for my online order?
Yes, your order will be confirmed with a phone call and you will be given a delivery date.

What information do you need to send out a package?
We need a complete street address, with a correct zip code, apartment or suite number, city, state, and the daytime phone number of the recipient.

What if I don't have a complete & correct address information?
We need to have complete & correct address information to successfully deliver your package. If we send to an incorrect or incomplete address, TNT will charge an additional $10.00. If you need additional assistance, please call our customer service department at 1-877-DOG-TO-GO (1-877-364-8646) M-F 9-5 or e-mail us @

What if I have to cancel my order?Orders may be canceled any time before the day they are being shipped out (two days before the delivery date). To notify us of a cancellation, please include your order number. You can reach us at our customer service department at 1-877-DOG-TO-GO (1-877-364-8646) M-F 9-5 or e-mail us @ info@thebestofchicago.com .

Can I send to a P.O. Box?
We can ship to a P.O. Box only if the P.O. Box is preceded by a Rural Route. Federal Express requires a physical street address.

Can I send to a college dorm?
Yes, but because of the nature of the residence, a signature will be required. We strongly recommend you let the college student know the package is coming and to be on the look out for the delivery.

Is there a card enclosed?
We print your personal message on a gift card inside the box.

How are the items sent?
All food items are packaged to meet the highest standards of safety and quality. All meats are manufactured in USDA facilities. Everything is then packed in a reusable, "Keep Fresh" cooler and shipped via TNT.

Can you ship outside of the USA?
No, currently we can only ship within the continental USA.

If there is no dry ice in the package when I open it?
Dry ice evaporates, so there may not be any visible dry in the package upon opening. If the food is cool to the touch the food is OK.

How long can the Food keep in the "keep fresh" coolers
All packs have enough dry ice to keep the product refrigerated for 36 to 48 hours.

Can I put the Food in the freezer?
If the Food has been defrosted we do not recommend re-freezing. Refrigerate defrosted food and eat in a few days. If the food is frozen you can put it in the freezer.

PROCESS TO PLACE AN ORDER

Click on the "Order" tab at the top of the page This will take you to our Vendor Page Select and click on the vendor logo of your choice Select the item you would like to order; click "Order" This will take you to "Your Shopping Cart" Page Select the quantity and type of product Fill in all other required fields Don’t Forget: If you wish to enter a gift message Select payment type If you are shipping to someone other than yourself, please check the box next to "Use separate shipping address" Click "Finalize Order" or "Continue shopping" If you Finalize your order Enter you billing, shipping, and payment information Click "Proceed" This will finish your order and you will receive a confirmation of your order Print this out for your records
  2. You will receive a phone call to confirm receipt of your order and will be given a delivery date

DELIVERY INFORMATION:

What time will the package be delivered?
Packages are delivered between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm Wednesday through Friday by TNT. An exact time of delivery cannot be given, it depends where the address is on the TNT courier's route.

Will TNT or The Best of Chicago call before delivering the package?
No, if this item is a gift, it is your responsibility to let the recipient know a package is coming. We strongly advise this because the package is of a perishable nature and needs to be refrigerated.

Does someone have to be home to sign for the package?
When sending to a residential address, it is standard practice to leave the package at the door if no one is home. This is called a "Release." We "Release" all packages. Please advise us if you would like to require a signature upon delivery.
What if I want to require a signature?
Yes, you can require a signature for deliveries to a home address. A signature is required for all packages sent to an office.


What if I require a signature and no one is home when TNT delivers the package?
The courier will take the package back to their local TNT Station and it will be the recipient's responsibility to pick it up or schedule a redelivery.

Will TNT keep the package refrigerated?
No, the food items are packed with either dry ice or ice packs in "Keep Fresh" coolers that will keep the contents properly refrigerated for 24 to 48 hours, depending on the size of the package.
